That’s quite a corny title, but have you heard the buzz making its way through the blogosphere about the Blog Engage community? Recently, I said Goodbye Digg, Hello Blog Engage! following the example of many before me who made Blog Engage their blog submission directory of choice.
That hardly describes Blog Engage very well at all. It’s so much more than just a simple directory. It’s a very active community where the owner works tirelessly to promote the blogs that submit to his site. Some members, like myself, have appreciated his efforts so much that we’ve taken up his cause as well.
The German Blitzkrieg Wit – “Brianstorming” Challenge
One such member is the man from Hamburg, Will McCulloch of Whatawebsite. This week, he challenged several members of the Blog Engage community to come together for a “Brianstorming” session (clever little German isn’t he) to help out Blog Engage’s owner Brian promote our community.
The more active I have become with Blog Engage the more comments and traffic I have received from its members. I have had numerous of my blog posts published in the past few weeks (good luck getting that done on Digg or any other blog directory).
In fact, Blog Engage is now the dominant source of referral traffic to this site! I’d encourage you to join the “Brianstorming” session and add your ideas.
The Lovely Ms. Ileane – A Real Go Giver
Someone you will see participating in the “brianstorming” session, and included in just about any effort to promote Blog Engage, is the lovely Ms. Ileane.
In An Introduction to Blog Engage, I shared a video that Brian had made for new users of the Blog Engage community. What I didn’t know was that he was sparked into action by an earlier post by Ms. Ileane, Introduction: The Blog Engage Community [Video].
Not only that, but she has been very active on Twitter promoting Blog Engage. She’s created a list of all the other active Blog Engage members, and you can follow it at @Ileane/blogengage.
It already has several followers, and she does a great job keeping it updated. Like I said, she’s a real Go Giver! Make sure you get to know her.
A Hash Tag of Our Own – #BlogEngage
She’s also started doing something in her tweets that I really like. She adds the hash tag #BlogEngage when she is tweeting fellow member’s posts. This brings me to the point of this post.
I would like to make #BlogEngage the official hash tag of the Blog Engage community. Obviously, it will take more than just a handful of us to make this a meaningful hash tag.
We need the support of the entire Blog Engage community. Can’t you just see #BlogEngage making it’s way up the Trending Topics on Twitter?
Won’t you please commit to using this hash tag whenever tweeting a fellow member’s post? If so, please leave a brief comment below and we will make sure to add this hash tag when we tweet your posts.
Help Make #BlogEngage the Official Blog Engage Hash Tag.

It wasn't until I read this comment that I noticed the phrase “go giver”….how fitting.
I'm excited about the play on words!
Hi Brad
I just signed up with Blog Engage last night. I was reading another blog and they were talking about it also. I guess the word is getting out and it seems like a great service. Its easy and fast! I want to add the voting buttons like you have here.

My recent post How to Add In-Text Advertising to Your Blog
I think you will really like Blog Engage. It is a very active community and very helpful. I am using the Blog Engage plugin to add my buttons. Some people prefer to do them manually; however, I don't trust my technical skills that much.
Brad,
I have been using the hash tags for a few weeks now! Ileane got me started on them and now look out lol! It's great to hear blogengage is your top referrer! You know I think it's the real life moderation of all members that makes our community to amazing,
Said in less words if I don't approve the members they can never submit to he site. This ensure a solid community of real bloggers. I'm not saying im picky but I do however ensure it's a real blogger like you and me.
This allows us to avoid spam account such as blogcatalog and mybloglog. Thousands of fake users but we have nothing lie that at B.E. With real people and real conversations we get and positive growing large community of bloggers.
With members such as Karl, Robert, will, Ileane and yourself it's just awesome! I wish I could say all their names but I cannot. You would have to look at my friends list for that.
My recent post Blog Engage Officially Added to Sexy Bookmarks
It's a great community for sure. All of the other sites I submit to are pretty lifeless. You may be onto something with the live moderation; however, I think it has more to do with how involved you are in your community and their blogs.
